Greenpower Car

Mrs Kennerley first introduced the whole of Year 6 to the Greenpower project in an assembly just before Easter. She then invited anyone to apply by filling in a CV and application form. All applicants were then invited to come for an interview with Mrs Kennerley and then she chose the 8 best candidates for the team.

Week 1

We went straight into test driving the car and had an introduction to the car and where it is kept in school. We learnt how to start it, the kill switch, how to brake and helping our team mates in and out of the car safely. The main rules are never to stand in front of the car, don’t get out of the car while it is still on and when you are not driving stay away and behind the car.

Week 4

Week 4 has had a great start, we drew our mood design for the goblin car (which everyone did a great job on - they look fantastic!). Whilst drawing everyone had a go at the chicane sprint. Again everyone did amazing! As we did that Jack (the one VERY good with computers) tracked everyone's scores and times. Only 1 person went a tiny amount out of the square (isn't that amazing!?). Our goblin car is definitely going to look amazing after seeing all the designs!

Week 5

Here we come designing! This week we have been testing out different colours for the cars body and cool designs for the car e.g: red flames picture frames with different faces of inspiring engineers and people from the world of motor sport on it, and of course a mirror showing your face to represent that we are all useful in our own way and the person you are looking at in the mirror could be the future of engineering and motor sport. We also practised the slalom!

Week 6

The day is nearing hear and we are so excited. Everyone is ready. Ellis is attaching the roll bar and kerys flos are designing and panting the body work. And every one is driving the car practising slalom.
