Year 5

Welcome to Nightingale Class!

Our teacher’s name is Mr White and our teaching assistants are Mrs Jolly and Mrs Hutchison.

Please make sure have the following in school every day:

  • Your diary, and reading book, and a pencil case containing:
  • 2 x HB pencils
  • black handwriting pen
  • pencil sharpener
  • eraser
  • small selection of coloured pencils
  • small pair of scissors
  • 30cm ruler (mm/cm) (not a flexible ruler)
  • clear protractor (180 degrees)
  • small glue stick

Please make sure all items are clearly named with your child’s full name.

PE is on a Thursday and Friday afternoon but can be weather-dependent, so please ensure PE kits are in school every day just in case. At the end of each half term, your child’s PE kit should go home for a wash.

The classroom will be open for children at 8.40am and registration will be at 8.55am.

This academic year we will continue to take pride in our work. We will demonstrate this by developing our presentation skills, producing neat and thoughtful work in class and at home.

We will be kind to one another so that everybody has the opportunity to enjoy themselves.

We will make the most of all opportunities to learn inside and outside of the classroom.

This year, our topics will be …

AUTUMN: Great Inventions and Blood and Guts!
SPRING: Ancient Greece and In a Galaxy Far, Far Away…
SUMMER: Water, Water Everywhere and Made in the UK.

You can find more information about what we will be learning in each topic by downloading the Curriculum Plans each term.
