Welcome to the Nightingales Class Webpage! This page will be updated weekly with ideas to support you with your home learning. Please look at the Nightingale Class Home Learning Information document for a brief overview of what you could be doing at home and activity suggestions. There are some useful website links on this document also. Make sure you set aside some time each day to keep on top of your learning, even if it is simply practising your key skills such as spellings and times tables.
Every Monday, a range of suggested English, maths and afternoon tasks will be posted on Google Classroom. These are designed to be spread across a week and there is a timetable below of how you could structure this. Please do what you can but don’t worry if you do not complete all the tasks each week. Children are also welcome to follow their own interests and complete their own learning activities if they wish to. Also on Google Classroom are audio recordings of all the dojo spelling tests. It would be great if children could be tested weekly on their spellings. Remember to share some of your work with Miss Keating each week, either on Google Classroom or by sending it to the class email address.
The other buttons provide links to resources which parents can use with children at home. There are lots of websites, online games and free printables to support your learning. Keep checking the Powell Corderoy Facebook page for other great ideas and assemblies. You should have brought home a Home Learning exercise book you can use, but feel free to present your work in other ways using anything you have at home or electronically. Remember to keep your work at home of the same standard we’d expect in school and work neatly.
And finally, there are some tips and websites to help you stay active while you’re at home. Remember that physical activity is still really important, to help you keep fit and healthy!
If you have any questions please feel free to email Miss Keating on firstname.lastname@example.org. Take care and hopefully see you all soon.
As well as getting involved in designing and participating in Powell Corderoy’s Sports Day 2020, why not have a go at the Virtual Surrey School Games (see links and documents below). The first challenge is a fitness challenge that will last for 10 days. You can let me know how you have got on via your class teacher, and I’ll compile a chart to show which class has got involved the most. As well as improving your scores, I’ll be looking to see who has been showing the School Games values of Determination, Self Belief, Passion, Respect, Teamwork and Honesty. You can also with your parents permission enter via the Active Surrey website (deadline 14th June). I hope you have fun with all these activities and I look forward to hearing how you have got on.
