At Powell we uphold and teach the four British Values, on which we base our school ethos. These are:
- The rule of law,
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
As part of this, we have developed a set of school values. Each month, on a two-year cycle, we focus on a different value and use our assemblies and PSHE lessons to explore the value more deeply. Parents and carers receive a monthly newsletter with ideas about how they can help children think more deeply about the current value at home.
‘Mrs Harbour’s reflections on quality (specifically time being the most important gift you can give)… were so nicely written, and good talking points for families to ponder with their kids.’ – Year 3 Mum, September 2015
The latest values letter can be found under ‘Recent Letters’ in the ‘Parents’ section of the website.
