Pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. The funding is allocated to schools for children who fall into three categories:
- Children who have registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years
- Children who have left local-authority care because of adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangements order or a residence order
- Services children.
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit, however we will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support these pupils. We request that all children eligible for Free School Meals register in confidence with the office, even if your child does not wish to have the meals, as this will enable the school to claim their Pupil Premium funding enabling your child to get the additional support they are entitled to. Our aim is to use Pupil Premium funding to raise the attainment and achievement of all Pupil Premium children to match that of all children in the school.
